Ingredients

Scale
  • 2832 ounces frozen French fries
  • 1 ½ teaspoons brown sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon chili powder
  • ¼ teaspoon paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • 4 tablespoons ranch dressing (plus more for dipping)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 2 cups medium cheddar cheese (freshly shredded)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven according to the French fries package instructions. Line baking sheets with foil and spray with cooking spray.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together all seasonings except ranch dressing. Spread fries evenly on the baking sheets and sprinkle seasoning mix over them.
  3. Toss fries gently to coat and bake according to package directions, rotating pans halfway through.
  4. For the cheese sauce, melt butter in a skillet over medium-low heat. Whisk in flour for one to two minutes.
  5. Gradually add milk while whisking until thickened. Slowly incorporate shredded cheese until melted and smooth.
  6. If sauce thickens too much, add more milk to reach desired consistency.
  7. To serve, layer fries on a plate, drizzle with warm cheese sauce, and top with ranch dressing.
