  • 2 tablespoons frying oil
  • 7 ounces cremini mushrooms
  • 1/4 head of broccoli
  • 1 large carrot (or 2 medium)
  • 2 green onions
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 1-inch piece of ginger
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes (to taste)
  • 8 cups chicken broth
  • 24 oz package store-bought dumplings (e.g., frozen chicken gyoza)
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons toasted sesame seed oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare all ingredients: slice mushrooms, chop broccoli into florets, cut carrot into matchsticks, grate garlic and ginger, and thinly slice green onions.
  2. In a large pot over high heat, heat frying oil. Add sliced mushrooms, broccoli florets, carrot matchsticks, and white parts of green onions; sauté for about two minutes until browned.
  3. Stir in grated garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes; cook for one minute until aromatic.
  4. Pour in chicken broth; bring to a boil then reduce heat and simmer for five minutes.
  5. Add dumplings according to package instructions (about three minutes).
  6. Season with soy sauce and toasted sesame seed oil; garnish with remaining green onions before serving.
